The 2025 Passport to Purpose campaign

Terms and Conditions

Campaign Details

The 2025 Passport to Purpose campaign is a special fundraising opportunity exclusively for organizations registered in countries most impacted by the USAID funding cuts.

Sustaining civil society is critical for community resilience. Thanks to the support of a generous donor, we're honored to be able to invest in communities whose funding has been drastically reduced in light of recent cuts.

From September 8 - 12, all eligible donations, up to $1,000 per unique donor per organization, will be proportionally matched.

Organization & Project Eligibility

Vetted partners registered in the ~100 countries most impacted by the USAID funding cuts (Center for Global Development) are eligible to participate in this campaign. GlobalGiving-sponsored projects and Funds are ineligible to participate in this campaign.

All active projects and microprojects associated with eligible organizations will be automatically included on the campaign leaderboard (no opt-in required).

Dates & Deadlines

GlobalGiving’s Passport to Purpose campaign will last 103 hours, from September 8, 2025, at 10:00:00 EDT to September 12, 2025, at 17:00:00 EDT.

Disbursement of funds raised and awarded in this campaign will be included in the usual monthly disbursement process.

Incentive Funds

The Passport to Purpose campaign will have an Incentive Fund of $150,000 USD.

The Incentive Fund will be distributed to participants proportionally based on final fundraising totals. This means that, at the end of the campaign, the projects that bring in the most dollars will win the largest portion of the Incentive Fund and every project that activates donors will win something.

Each participant’s portion of the Incentive Fund is determined as follows: [Total Eligible Project Donations] ÷ [Total Donations To All Projects in the campaign] * [$150,000 USD] ≈ Your portion of the Incentive Fund

Allocation of the Incentive Fund will be displayed on the leaderboard and will recalculate every three minutes until the campaign ends. Because each participant’s portion of the Incentive Fund is calculated proportionally with respect to the total donations received by all projects, your final share of the Incentive Fund will not be determined until the campaign ends on September 12, 2025, at 17:00:00 EDT.

Limitations

Donations up to $1,000 USD per unique donor per organization will be eligible to receive Incentive Funds.

Verification

Unique donors are determined using numerous criteria, including name, email address, credit card number, mailing address, and IP address.

For the purposes of calculating matching amounts, donations made in other currencies will be converted to USD. The exchange rate will be estimated at the time of the donation, but may be subject to change until the donation settles with the donor’s bank or credit card. Funds will be disbursed using the exchange rate based on the settlement value of each transaction.

In GlobalGiving donation manager, donations that count towards your total raised during the Passport to Purpose campaign (based on the time the donation was made and the method of payment) will be marked with a plus sign.

GlobalGiving reserves the right to make final decisions on all matters concerning the allocation of the Incentive Fund.

Donation Methods & Eligibility

Please note that all donations are final. GlobalGiving cannot change the time, date, or status of a donation after it is processed for any reason.

Any activity not in the spirit of requesting separate individuals to support donations is being moderated by GlobalGiving and GlobalGiving reserves the right to permanently disqualify organizations for any attempts of misconduct.

Eligible Donations

Donations made to a project using any of the following methods will count towards your total raised during the Passport to Purpose campaign:

Credit or debit card

Paypal

Individually purchased GlobalGiving Gift Cards

M-Changa/M-Pesa

Donations must be made by the account or credit card holder.

Ineligible Donations

Donations received via any other methods will not count towards your total raised during the Passport to Purpose campaign. Ineligible donation methods include, but are not limited to: corporate gift cards, physical checks, cash donations, wire transfers, CAF checks and CAF Online, donations made on a GlobalGiving corporate or organizational giving site, and donations made directly to an organization rather than a project.

Tax Efficient Giving

Tax Efficiency

GlobalGiving is a registered nonprofit charity in the United States and England and Wales. Donations made by eligible donors in the United States can be claimed as tax deductible contributions on United States tax returns. Donations made by eligible donors in the United Kingdom can claim Gift Aid (an extra 25% added to eligible donations by the UK Government) when they donate in GBP.

Fulfillment Fee

GlobalGiving charges a minimal nonprofit support fee plus a 3% processing fee. For US and UK registered organizations, the nonprofit support fee is 5%; for organizations outside the US and UK, it is 7%. During the Passport to Purpose campaign, the fee only applies to the initial donation and not to bonus prizes or matching funds earned. The fee helps cover the costs we incur to promote your organization and projects, to provide you with fundraising training and tools, and to maintain and improve our online technology in order to keep you connecting with new donors.
